Moutet’s phone interrupts mid-match with Djokovic

With the scores poised at deuce in the first game of the second set between Novak Djokovic and Corentin Moutet in the second round of the Rome Masters, the Frenchman’s concentration on serve was interrupted by a phone going off.

It was evident that the phone was quite close to court – and it transpired that it was Moutet’s own phone, triggering him to rush to his chair, grab it from his bag, silence it and apologise.

It seemed to be an alarm marking 8pm CET rather than an incoming call.

Fortunately both his opponent and the umpire Carlos Bernardes were amused by the incident, and the match continued.

Moutet failed to hold his serve, though, allowing the world No 1 an early break.
