Italian Open: Kalinina advances to third round
Anhelina Kalinina benefited from the abandonment of Lesia Tsurenko (2-0) on Friday. She’ll play Greek Maria Sakkari, the No 5 seed, in the next round

No 30 seed Anhelina Kalinina reached the third round of the Italian Open when Lesia Tsurenko retired on Friday at the Foro Italico in Roma.
Kalinina, ranked No 31, led 2-0 when Tsurenko, ranked No 44, pulled out on Friday afternoon at the Foro Italico in Roma.
Anhelina Kalinina will face Greek Maria Sakkari, the No 5 seed, next.
In the previous round of the Rome tournament, Lesia Tsurenko edged out Croat Donna Vekic (6-2, 3-6, 7-6 (5)).
