L’Open 35 de Saint Malo: Cornet recovers to beat Ponchet and reach semi-finals

No 8 seed Alize Cornet reached the last four of the L’Open 35 de Saint Malo by defeating Jessika Ponchet 4-6, 6-2, 6-2.
Cornet, ranked No 107, will face the winner of the match between American Katie Volynets, the No 7 seed, and French wildcard Lois Boisson next.
Alize Cornet won against qualifier Astrid Lew Yan Foon (6-1, 6-4) and Fiona Ferro (6-4, 5-7, 6-3) earlier in the tournament.
In the previous rounds, Ponchet, ranked No 147, won against Russian Anna Blinkova, the second seed (7-5, 6-3) and Colombian Emiliana Arango (6-3, 6-4).
