Colombian Camila Osorio, the No 7 seed, moved into the last four of the Catalonia Open by edging out Pole Magdalena Frech, the No 4 seed, 4-6, 7-6 (8), 7-6 (4).
Osorio, ranked No 63, will play second seed Katerina Siniakova next.
Earlier in the tournament, the 22-year-old Colombian benefited from the abandonment of Swede qualifier Mirjam Bjorklund (4-1) and won against Croat Lucija Ciric Bagaric (6-0, 1-6, 6-1).
Frech, ranked No 51, defeated Greek qualifier Despina Papamichail (6-2, 6-4) and Croat Lea Boskovic (6-3, 6-1) in the previous rounds.
