L’Open 35 de Saint Malo: Paquet beats Stearns to book spot in last four

Frenchwoman Chloe Paquet beat American Peyton Stearns, the No 3 seed, 7-5, 2-6, 6-0 to reach the semi-finals of the L’Open 35 de Saint Malo.
Paquet, ranked No 149, will face the winner of the match between Frenchwoman Clara Burel, the top seed, and Swiss Celine Naef next.
The Frenchwoman edged out Mexican Renata Zarazua, the No 6 seed (3-6, 6-0, 6-4) and won against Belarusian qualifier Iryna Shymanovich (6-4, 6-3) ahead of her victory.
In the previous rounds, Stearns, ranked No 87, defeated French lucky loser Margaux Rouvroy (6-4, 6-1) and Australian Taylah Preston (6-1, 3-6, 6-1).
