Rublev snaps Alcaraz’s 14-match Madrid winning streak

Russian Andrey Rublev, the No 7 seed, advanced to the last 4 of the Madrid Masters by beating Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, the second seed, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 at the Caja Magica on Wednesday.
Rublev, ranked No 8, will face the winner of the match between American Taylor Fritz, the No 12 seed, and Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo, the No 21 seed, next.
The Russian won against Argentinian qualifier Facundo Bagnis (6-1, 6-4), Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, the No 27 seed (7-6 (10), 6-4) and Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor, the No 24 seed (6-2, 6-4) earlier in the tournament.
In the previous rounds of the Madrid tournament, Alcaraz, ranked No 3, defeated Kazakh Alexander Shevchenko (6-2, 6-1), Brazilian Thiago Seyboth Wild (6-3, 6-3) and German Jan-Lennard Struff, the No 23 seed (6-3, 6-7 (5), 7-6 (4)).
