Indian Wells: Yuan recovers against Dolehide to make last 16

Chinese Yue Yuan edged out American Caroline Dolehide 1-6, 6-4, 7-6 (2) to reach the last 16 of the Indian Wells at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden.

Yuan, ranked No 49, will play the winner of the match between American Sloane Stephens and Russian Daria Kasatkina, the No 11 seed, next.

The Chinese won against Frenchwoman Varvara Gracheva (6-4, 6-1) and No 8 seed Qinwen Zheng (6-4, 6-3) in the previous rounds of the Indian Wells tournament.

Earlier in the tournament, Dolehide, ranked No 51, defeated Spaniard Cristina Bucsa (6-2, 6-0) and Belarusian Victoria Azarenka, the No 27 seed (7-5, 2-6, 6-3).
