Mouratoglou, Cahill, Billie Jean King react to Halep decision
Halep’s doping ban was reduced from four years to nine months and the Romanian is able to return to competition effective immediately
Patrick Mouratoglou and Darren Cahill, both former coaches of Simona Halep, have reacted to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) decision to reduce the doping ban on the former world No 1 from four years to nine months on Tuesday.
Mouratoglou, who is now working with Denmark’s Holger Rune, tweeted on X asking for a change in the lengthy process for the arbitration process. “The unfairness is incredible. Yes it has to change,” he said in reaction to the news. He also posted a picture of Halep with the caption “Truth has prevailed” on his Instagram stories.
Cahill, who is now working with reigning men’s Australian Open champion Jannik Sinner, was happy about the news, tweeting “Good morning!! #simo” with a smiley and heart emoji.
Former players were also delighted about the news that Halep can return to the court immediately. Those include former greats of the game, including Billie Jean King, Martina Navratilova, Boris Becker and Juan Martin del Potro.
