Argentina Open: Etcheverry makes last eight
Tomas Martin Etcheverry won against Daniel Elahi Galan 6-3, 6-0 on Wednesday evening and will play the winner of the match between Chilean Nicolas Jarry, the No 3 seed, and Swiss Stan Wawrinka in the next round
Argentinian Tomas Martin Etcheverry, the No 6 seed, advanced to the last eight of the Argentina Open by beating Colombian qualifier Daniel Elahi Galan 6-3, 6-0 at Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club on Wednesday evening.
Etcheverry, ranked No 27, will face the winner of the match between Chilean Nicolas Jarry, the No 3 seed, and Swiss Stan Wawrinka next.
The Argentinian won against Spaniard Roberto Carballes Baena (6-4, 6-1) ahead of his victory.
In the previous round of the Buenos Aires Open, Galan, ranked No 80, edged out Argentinian wildcard Diego Schwartzman (2-6, 6-1, 6-4).
