Qatar Open: Pliskova beats Potapova to continue fine run and reach last 16

Karolina Pliskova moved into the last 16 of the Qatar Open by edging out Russian Anastasia Potapova 6-1, 5-7, 6-4 at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha.

The Czech had just a 24-hour turnaround between winning the Cluj-Napoca Open in Romania on Sunday, and beating Kalinskaya in Doha on Monday.

She has now backed up that feat with another victory to bring her winning run to seven matches.

Pliskova, ranked No 59, will face Linda Noskova next.

Karolina Pliskova edged out Russian wildcard Anna Kalinskaya (2-6, 7-6 (3), 6-4) ahead of her victory.

In the previous round of the Qatar tournament, Potapova, ranked No 34, won against Italian lucky loser Martina Trevisan (6-4, 6-4).
