Rolex Paris Masters to change venue from 2025

Housed at the Accor Hotel Arena since 1986, the Rolex Paris Masters will move to Paris-La Défense Arena from 2025, marking an end to tournament’s stay in Bercy

It had been in the pipeline for the past few days, but the French Tennis Federation (FFT) made it official around noon today after released a statement. The Rolex Paris Masters will be held one last time at the Accor Hotel Arena in 2024 before moving permanently to Paris-La Défense Arena in 2025.

Le Parisien and RMC Sport revealed last week that the stadium was no longer able to comply with the new ATP specifications, particularly regarding the size of the courts and the location of the training grounds.

This move will allow the 1000-level event to welcome more people. At the current venue in Bercy 16,000 spectators could be accommodated, but the new venue will allow for 23,000 spectators per day at La Défense, the FFT said in its press release.

MORE DOUBLES PLAYERS, DIFFERENT FORMAT

The FFT also announced that number of players taking part would change and confirmed a revised format for the day and evening sessions.

“The 2025 edition of the Rolex Paris Masters at Paris La Défense Arena will also allow the organisation of four additional matches throughout the tournament with 28 doubles teams compared to 24 today, and an optimised switch from the ‘4+2’ format (4 matches during the day and 2 matches in the evening) on the centre court to a ‘3+2’ format, in order to avoid late starts to the match and thus respect the fairness of the competition.”

Gilles Moretton, President of the FFT, is delighted with the change.

“With this move to Paris La Défense Arena, we will give ourselves the means to achieve our ambitions by offering our athletes and spectators an experience that they will remember for the rest of their lives,” Moretton said.

Cédric Pioline, tournament director also release a statement.

“I am convinced that moving to Paris La Défense Arena marks a significant step in the evolution of the Rolex Paris Masters and opens up a multitude of possibilities in terms of programming but also in terms of welcoming players and spectators,” he said.
