Thailand Open: Linette goes down to Shnaider as losing streak extends to four
Shanider will face the winner of the match between Thai wildcard Lanlana Tararudee and Spaniard Paula Badosa in the next round
Russian Diana Shnaider reached the second round of the Thailand Open by beating Pole Magda Linette, the top seed, 6-4, 1-6, 6-1 at the True Arena Hua Hin on Monday.
This was the fourth loss in a row for Linette, who reached the semi-final at the 2023 Australian Open. After opening the season with a win in Brisbane, the Pole lost her second match there and then suffered opening round exits in Adelaide, Melbourne and now this week.
Shnaider, ranked No 108, will play the winner of the match between Thai wildcard Lanlana Tararudee and Spaniard Paula Badosa next.
