Australian Open: Svitolina eases past Golubic to book spot in last 16
Elina Svitolina won against Viktorija Golubic 6-2, 6-3 on Saturday and will play Linda Noskova in the next round
Ukrainian Elina Svitolina, the No 19 seed, moved into the last 16 of the Australian Open by defeating Swiss Viktorija Golubic 6-2, 6-3 at Melbourne Park.
Svitolina, ranked No 23, will play Linda Noskova next after the Czech teenager sensationally knocked out Iga Swiatek in their third-round encounter.
Earlier in the tournament, the Ukrainian won against Australian wildcard Taylah Preston (6-2, 6-2) and Bulgarian Viktoriya Tomova (6-1, 6-3).
Golubic, ranked No 85, beat Russian Veronika Kudermetova, the No 15 seed (7-6 (4), 1-6, 6-1) and edged out Katerina Siniakova (6-3, 2-6, 6-4) in the previous rounds.
