Australian Open: Humbert beats Zhang to book spot in third round

Frenchman Ugo Humbert, the No 21 seed, edged out Chinese Zhizhen Zhang 6-2, 5-7, 6-1, 7-6 (3) to move into the third round of the Australian Open at Melbourne Park.

Humbert, ranked No 20, will play the winner of the match between qualifier Jakub Mensik and Pole Hubert Hurkacz, the No 9 seed, next.

In the previous round, the Frenchman won against Belgian qualifier David Goffin (6-2, 7-5, 5-7, 6-3).

Zhang, ranked No 54, defeated Argentinian Federico Coria (6-4, 7-6 (3), 7-6 (5)) in the previous round.
