Kalinskaya runs past Rus in Australian Open second round
Anna Kalinskaya ousted Arantxa Rus in straight sets during second-round action in Melbourne on Thursday. Kalinskaya awaits either Daria Kasatkina or Sloane Stephens.

Russian Anna Kalinskaya moved into the third round of the Australian Open by defeating Dutchwoman Arantxa Rus 6-1, 7-5 at Melbourne Park on Thursday afternoon.
Kalinskaya, ranked No 75, will next play the winner of the match between American Sloane Stephens and Russian Daria Kasatkina, the No 14 seed. The Russian previously defeated American qualifier Katie Volynets (6-3, 3-6, 6-2).
In the first round, Rus — ranked No 45 — ousted Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina, the No 24 seed (6-1, 6-0).
