Australian Open: Parks takes out Fernandez

Alycia Parks advanced to the third round of the Australian Open by defeating Canadian Leylah Fernandez, the No 32 seed, 7-5, 6-4 at Melbourne Park on Wednesday.
Parks, ranked No 82, will face the winner of the match between Caroline Dolehide and No 4 seed Coco Gauff next.
Ahead of her victory, the American edged out Ukrainian qualifier Daria Snigur (2-6, 6-2, 6-4).
Fernandez, ranked No 35, won against qualifier Sara Bejlek (7-6 (5), 6-2) in the previous round.
