Adelaide Open: Pegula reaches semi-finals

American Jessica Pegula, the second seed, edged out Russian qualifier Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 6-7 (1), 7-5, 6-4 to reach the last four of the Adelaide Open at the Memorial Drive Tennis Park on Thursday night.
Pegula, ranked No 5, will play Russian Daria Kasatkina next as she continues her quest for a sixth career tour title – and a sixth on hard court.
Ahead of her victory, the American defeated lucky loser Bernarda Pera (4-6, 6-2, 6-3).
Pavlyuchenkova, ranked No 59, won against Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, the No 5 seed (6-3, 6-4) and qualifier Katerina Siniakova (2-6, 6-3, 6-2) in the previous rounds of the Adelaide tournament.
