Hungarian lucky loser Mate Valkusz moved into the second round of the Metz Open by winning against German Daniel Altmaier 6-2, 6-2 at Arènes de Metz on Tuesday.
Valkusz, ranked No 232, will face Russian Alexander Shevchenko next.
