Sinner sets up semi-final against Rublev in Vienna

Italian Jannik Sinner, the second seed, defeated American Frances Tiafoe, the No 7 seed, 6-3, 6-4 to reach the semi-finals of the Vienna Open at the Wiener Stadthalle on Friday evening.
Sinner, ranked No 4, will face Russian Andrey Rublev, the No 3 seed, next. With 54 wins to his name in 2003, Sinner equals the Italian record of 54 wins in a year.
Earlier in the tournament, the 22-year-old Italian won against American Ben Shelton (7-6 (2), 7-5) and lucky loser Lorenzo Sonego (6-2, 6-4).
Tiafoe, ranked No 14, benefited from the abandonment of Daniel Evans (1-4) and edged out Frenchman Gael Monfils (5-7, 6-1, 6-4) in the previous rounds of the Vienna tournament.
