Hong Kong Open: Wang through to second round after Avanesyan retirement
Xinyu Wang benefited from the abandonment of Elina Avanesyan (6-2, 4-1) on Tuesday afternoon and will play the winner of the match between wildcard Ho Ching Wu and Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo in the next round

Chinese Xinyu Wang, the No 4 seed, moved into the second round of the Hong Kong Open when Russian Elina Avanesyan retired on Tuesday afternoon.
Wang, ranked No 32, led 6-2, 4-1 when Avanesyan, ranked No 67, pulled out.
The 22-year-old Chinese will play the winner of the match between wildcard Ho Ching Wu and Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo next.
