Shanghai Masters: Wolf recovers to edge past Arnaldi and book spot in last 16

American J.J. Wolf edged out Italian Matteo Arnaldi 2-6, 6-3, 7-6 (4) to move into the last 16 of the Shanghai Masters at the Qi Zhong Stadium.

Wolf, ranked No 51, will play the winner of the match between Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, the No 4 seed, and Frenchman Ugo Humbert, the No 32 seed, next.

In the previous rounds of the Shanghai tournament, the American edged out Argentinian Pedro Cachin (3-6, 6-3, 6-4) and No 15 seed Cameron Norrie (6-3, 5-7, 7-6 (4)).

Arnaldi, ranked No 42, edged out Australian Alexei Popyrin (4-6, 6-3, 6-4) and German Jan-Lennard Struff, the No 21 seed (6-3, 3-6, 6-4) earlier in the tournament.
