Shanghai Masters: Lajovic into third round as 23rd seed Griekspoor retires

Serbia’s Dusan Lajovic advanced to the third round of the Shanghai Masters when Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor, the No 23 seed, retired on Friday at the Qi Zhong Stadium.

Lajovic, ranked No 55, was leading 6-4, 3-2 when Griekspoor, ranked No 24 in the world, pulled out of the match.

The 33-year-old Serb will play the winner of the match between Hungarian Fabian Marozsan and Australian Alex De Minaur, the No 11 seed, next.

In the previous round of the Shanghai tournament, Lajovic defeated three-time Grand Slam winner Stan Wawrinka (6-4, 7-6 (7)).
