Djokovic skips Asian swing, will focus on Paris, ATP Finals and Davis Cup Finals

Novak Djokovic has decided to skip the Asian swing as he plots the best way to end 2023 and prepare best for next year and a crack at winning a record 25th Grand Slam title.

The 36-year-old equalled Margaret Court at the top of all the all-time list after winning the US Open, his third Grand Slam title of 2023. His decision comes after he helped Serbia reach the last eight of the Davis Cup, another of his main aims for the rest of the year.

Djokovic could have played Beijing and the Masters 1000 event in Shanghai but given his age, longevity and success, he does not have to play all of the mandatory Masters tournaments.

Djokovic likely to stick to Paris and Turin

Djokovic still has goals outside of the Grand Slams, of course, and winning a seventh Paris Bercy Masters title and a record seventh ATP Finals crown would be in there, no doubt.

And the Davis Cup is a major goal, as he stated at the beginning of this week, before helping ensure Serbia qualified for the Final 8.

The Serb’s victory over Casper Ruud in Turin last year – his first since 2015 – pulled him level with six ATP Finals titles with Roger Federer.
