Romanian Miriam Bulgaru advanced to the last 8 of the Zavarovalnica Sava Ljubljana by beating Slovenian Kaja Juvan, the No 6 seed, 6-4, 6-3 on Friday.
Bulgaru, ranked No 201, will face No 3 seed Dalma Galfi next.
The Romanian edged out American qualifier Ashley Lahey (3-6, 6-3, 6-4) in the previous round.
In the previous round, Juvan, ranked No 106, benefited from the abandonment of qualifier Gabriela Knutson (3-0).
