Russian Anna Kalinskaya won against Harriet Dart 7-6 (5), 6-2 to reach the last eight of the Kinoshita Group Japan Open Tennis Championships on Wednesday.
Kalinskaya, ranked No 92, will play the winner of the match between American Ashlyn Krueger and Frenchwoman Jessika Ponchet next.
Ahead of her victory, the Russian beat German Jule Niemeier (6-4, 6-4).
Dart, ranked No 161, won against No 4 seed Linda Fruhvirtova (7-5, 5-7, 6-2) in the previous round.
