Bari Open: Cornet moves into last four

Frenchwoman Alize Cornet, the top seed, reached the last 4 of the Bari Open by winning against Italian Jennifer Ruggeri 6-2, 6-4 at Circolo Tennis Bari on Friday evening.
Cornet, ranked No 79, will play Slovenian Tamara Zidansek, the No 5 seed, next.
The 33-year-old Frenchman defeated Hungarian Reka Luca Jani (7-5, 6-4) and edged out Greek Valentini Grammatikopoulou (4-6, 6-4, 7-5) in the previous rounds of the Puglia Open.
Earlier in the tournament, Jennifer Ruggeri won against qualifier Freya Christie (6-3, 6-1) and Berfu Cengiz (6-0, 6-2).
