Alert – US Open: Muchova books spot in last four
Karolina Muchova beat Sorana Cirstea 6-0, 6-3 on Tuesday night and will play American Coco Gauff, the No 6 seed, in the next round
No 10 seed Karolina Muchova won against Romanian Sorana Cirstea, the No 30 seed, 6-0, 6-3 to reach the semi-finals of the US Open at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York on Tuesday night.
Muchova, ranked No 10, will play American Coco Gauff, the No 6 seed, next.
Ahead of her victory, Karolina Muchova defeated Australian wildcard Storm Hunter (6-4, 6-0), Pole Magdalena Frech (6-3, 6-3), American Taylor Townsend (7-6, 6-3) and Chinese Xinyu Wang (6-3, 5-7, 6-1).
Cirstea, ranked No 30, beat American wildcard Kayla Day (6-2, 6-3), Russian Anna Kalinskaya (6-3, 6-4), Kazakh Elena Rybakina, the No 4 seed (6-3, 6-7 (6), 6-4) and Swiss Belinda Bencic, the No 15 seed (6-3, 6-3) earlier in the tournament.
