US Open: In-form De Minaur breezes past Jarry challenge to make last 16

Australian Alex De Minaur, the No 13 seed, defeated Chilean Nicolas Jarry, the No 23 seed, 6-1, 6-3, 6-2 to reach the last 16 of the US Open at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

De Minaur, ranked No 13, will face the winner of the match between Russian Daniil Medvedev, the No 3 seed, and Argentinian Sebastian Baez next.

In the previous rounds of the Flushing Meadows tournament, the Australian edged out Kazakh qualifier Timofey Skatov (6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 7-5) and won against Chinese Yibing Wu (6-1, 6-2, 6-1).

Jarry, ranked No 25, edged out Frenchman Luca Van Assche (6-3, 3-6, 6-2, 7-6 (3)) and beat American wildcard Alex Michelsen (4-6, 6-3, 6-3, 6-3) earlier in the tournament.
