Winston-Salem Open: Cerundolo reaches last eight, faces top seed Coric next
The Argentine defeated Omni Kumar 7-5, 6-3 on Wednesday
Argentina’s Juan Manuel Cerundolo defeated American lucky loser Omni Kumar 7-5, 6-3 to move into the quarter-finals of the Winston-Salem Open at Wake Forest Tennis Complex on Wednesday.
Cerundolo, ranked No 100 i the world, will face Croat Borna Coric, the top seed, for a spot in the semi-finals.

Earlier in the tournament, the 21-year-old Argentine defeated Russian Roman Safiullin (7-6 (5), 3-6, 6-3) and edged out German Yannick Hanfmann, the No 10 seed (7-6 (3), 5-7, 7-6 (4)).
Kumar, ranked No 385 in the world and coming in as a lucky loser, defeated Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech (6-3, 7-6 (3)) and Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp, the No 8 seed (6-3, 7-5) in the previous rounds of the Winston-Salem tournament.
