German Tatjana Maria, the top seed, advanced to the quarter-finals of the Barranquilla Open by winning against Greek Valentini Grammatikopoulou 6-0, 6-2 on Wednesday evening.
Maria, ranked No 58, will face the winner of the match between Australian Daria Saville and German wildcard Sabine Lisicki next.
The 36-year-old German defeated Argentinian Martina Capurro Taborda (6-1, 6-1) in the previous round.
In the previous round, Grammatikopoulou, ranked No 164, beat qualifier Katarina Kozarov (6-3, 6-2).
