Western & Southern Open: Muchova triumphs in three-set battle with Haddad Maia
Karolina Muchova edged out Beatriz Haddad Maia 6-7 (3), 6-1, 6-4 on Tuesday evening and will play Croat Petra Martic in the next round

Karolina Muchova advanced to the second round of the Western & Southern Open by edging out Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, the No 12 seed, 6-7 (3), 6-1, 6-4 at the Linder Tennis Family Center in Cincinnati on Tuesday evening.
After dropping a tight first set, Muchova showed her pedigree by storming back into the match, dropping only five more games en route to the first-round victory.
Muchova, ranked No 17, will face Croat Petra Martic next.
