Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina reached the last four of the Toronto Masters by winning against American Mackenzie McDonald 6-4, 6-2 at the Aviva Centre on Friday evening.
Davidovich Fokina, ranked No 37, will play the winner of the match between Australian Alex De Minaur and Russian Daniil Medvedev, the second seed, next.

Earlier in the tournament, the Spaniard defeated American J.J. Wolf (6-0, 6-2), German Alexander Zverev, the No 13 seed (6-1, 6-2) and Norwegian Casper Ruud, the No 3 seed (7-6 (4), 4-6, 7-6 (4)).
McDonald, ranked No 59, beat Russian Aslan Karatsev (6-3, 6-4), Russian Andrey Rublev, the No 6 seed (6-4, 6-3) and Canadian wildcard Milos Raonic (6-3, 6-3) in the previous rounds of the Rogers Cup.
