Dutchman Gijs Brouwer beat Australian Max Purcell, the No 6 seed, 6-4, 6-1 to move into the second round of the Hall of Fame Open at the International Tennis Hall of Fame & Museum in Newport.
Brouwer, ranked No 145, will face the winner of the match between Canadian Gabriel Diallo and South African wildcard Kevin Anderson next.
