Kyrgios Pulls out of Wimbledon with torn ligament in wrist
The Aussie encountered more physical problems during his Wimbledon warmup and has been forced to pull out of the draw.
Nick Kyrgios, last year’s Wimbledon runner-up, has withdrawn from this year’s Championships, citing a torn ligament in his wrist.
The 28-year-old Aussie, who reached his maiden Grand Slam final last year at the All England Club, has been limited to just one match in 2023. After missing the Australian Open in January and undergoing right knee surgery, he made his return to the court in Stuttgart last month, falling to China’s Wu Yibing in straight sets.

He then went to Mallorca to continue his preparations but has experienced further complications.
“I’m really sad to say that I have to withdraw from Wimbledon this year,” he wrote on Instagram. “I tried my hardest to be ready after my surgery and to be able to step on the Wimbledon courts again. During my comeback, I experienced some pain in my wrist during the week of Mallorca. As a precaution I had it scanned and it came back showing a torn ligament in my wrist.
“I tried everything to be able to play and I am disappointed to say that I just didn’t have enough time to manage it before Wimbledon – I’ll be back.”
Kyrgios’ spot in the draw will be replaced by a lucky loser, who will face David Goffin in the first round.
