Italian Lucia Bronzetti advanced to the quarter-finals of the Bad Homburg Open by winning against Egyptian Mayar Sherif, the No 4 seed, 1-6, 7-6 (2), 6-3 at Bod Hombourg vor der Höhe.
Bronzetti, ranked No 65, will play Frenchwoman Varvara Gracheva, the No 8 seed, next.
In the previous round of the Bad Hombourg tournament, the Italian beat Austrian Julia Grabher (6-4, 6-1).
Sherif, ranked No 31, edged out German wildcard Anna-Lena Friedsam (4-6, 6-4, 7-5) during the 32 of the Bad Hombourg tournament.
