Berlin Open: Kvitova moves into final, faces Vekic for title

Czech Petra Kvitova, the No 7 seed, beat Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova 6-3, 6-4 to move into the final of the Berlin Open at Rot-Weiss Tennis Club on Saturday evening.
Kvitova, ranked No 9, will play Croat Donna Vekic next.
At the age of 33, she is the oldest player to reach the final in Berlin – the second to reach the final past the age of 30, along with Chris Evert, who achieved it in 1985.
The 33-year-old Czech won against Karolina Pliskova (6-3, 6-4), Argentinian Nadia Podoroska (6-1, 6-1) and Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia, the No 3 seed (6-4, 7-6 (3)) in the previous rounds of the Berlin tournament.
Earlier in the tournament, Alexandrova, ranked No 22, won against Liudmila Samsonova (6-4, 6-3), American Coco Gauff, the No 5 seed (6-4, 6-0) and wildcard Veronika Kudermetova (W/O).
