Birmingham Classic: Ostapenko moves into final, sets up clash of two top seeds against Krejcikova

Latvian Jelena Ostapenko, the second seed, edged out Russian Anastasia Potapova, the No 4 seed, 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 to advance to the final of the Birmingham Classic at Edgbaston Priory Club on Saturday.
Ostapenko, ranked No 17, will play Czech Barbora Krejcikova, the top seed, next.
Ahead of her victory, the Latvian won against Czech Linda Noskova (6-2, 5-7, 6-1), American wildcard Venus Williams (6-3, 5-7, 6-3) and Pole qualifier Magdalena Frech (4-6, 7-5, 6-2).
Potapova, ranked No 21, defeated Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk (6-7 (6), 7-5, 6-4), American Catherine McNally (3-6, 6-2, 7-6) and wildcard Harriet Dart (4-6, 6-3, 6-4) in the previous rounds of the Birmingham tournament.
