Berlin Open: Kvitova reaches last four, defeats Garcia
Petra Kvitova won against Caroline Garcia 6-4, 7-6 (3) on Saturday and will play Ekaterina Alexandrova in the next round
Czech Petra Kvitova, the No 7 seed, beat Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia, the No 3 seed, 6-4, 7-6 (3) to move into the semi-finals of the Berlin Open at Rot-Weiss Tennis Club on Saturday.
Kvitova, ranked No 9, will face Ekaterina Alexandrova in the semi-final later today.
The 33-year-old Czech won against Karolina Pliskova (6-3, 6-4) and Argentinian Nadia Podoroska (6-1, 6-1) ahead of her victory.

This was Kvitova’s 13th grass-court quarter-final as she continues her quest for her sixth tour title on the surface.
Earlier in the tournament, Garcia, ranked No 4, won against German wildcard Sabine Lisicki (7-6 (2), 6-3) and Australian qualifier Jaimee Fourlis (6-3, 6-2).
