Queen’s: Alcaraz finds form on grass to outclass Lehecka and make last eight
Carlos Alcaraz defeated Jiri Lehecka 6-2, 6-3 and will play the winner of the match between Bulgarian qualifier Grigor Dimitrov and Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo, the No 8 seed, in the next round
Carlos Alcaraz advanced to the last eight of the Queen’s by defeating Czech Jiri Lehecka 6-2, 6-3 at Queen’s Club in London.
It was a much-improved display from his first round win against Rinderknech, as the Spaniard appears to have found his form and rhythm on the grass in time for Wimbledon.
Alcaraz, ranked No. 2 in the world behind Novak Djokovic, will play the winner of the match between Bulgarian qualifier Grigor Dimitrov and Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo, the No 8 seed, next.
Ahead of his victory, the 20-year-old Spaniard edged out French lucky loser Arthur Rinderknech (4-6, 7-5, 7-6 (3)).
Lehecka, ranked No 36, won against Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina (7-6 (4), 6-3) in the previous round of the Queen’s Championships.
