Birmingham Classic: Lucky loser Marino edges out Bektas to make last eight
Rebecca Marino edged out Emina Bektas 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (1) and will play Chinese Lin Zhu in the next round

Canadian lucky loser Rebecca Marino moved into the quarter-finals of the Birmingham Classic by edging out American qualifier Emina Bektas 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (1) at Edgbaston Priory Club on Thursday.
Marino, ranked No 90, will play Chinese Lin Zhu next.
In the previous round of the Birmingham tournament, the Canadian defeated Chinese qualifier Xiyu Wang (7-6 (5), 5-7, 6-3).
Bektas, ranked No 150, won against Chinese Shuai Zhang, the No 7 seed (6-4, 6-3) in the previous round of the Birmingham tournament.
