Dutchwoman Arantxa Rus, the No 7 seed, won against Austrian Sinja Kraus 6-3, 7-5 to reach the quarter-finals of the Open Internacional Femení Solgironès on Thursday night.
Rus, ranked No 114, will play the winner of the match between Spaniard Marina Bassols Ribera and American Caroline Dolehide, the No 4 seed, next.
The Dutchwoman beat Spaniard Rosa Vicens Mas (6-4, 6-3) in the previous round.
In the 32, Kraus, ranked No 153, edged out Spaniard Leyre Romero Gormaz (6-3, 5-7, 7-6 (6)).
