Saint-Malo Open: Volynets moves into semi-finals
Katie Volynets won against Magdalena Frech 6-3, 6-3 on Friday and will face Belgian Greet Minnen in the next round
American Katie Volynets won against Pole Magdalena Frech, the No 7 seed, 6-3, 6-3 to reach the last 4 of the Saint-Malo Open at the Parc des sports de Marville on Friday.
Volynets, ranked No 103, will face Belgian Greet Minnen next.
The 21-year-old American defeated French wildcard Margaux Rouvroy (7-5, 6-2) and edged out Belgian Maryna Zanevska, the No 3 seed (2-6, 6-4, 7-5) ahead of her victory.
In the previous rounds of the Saint-Malo tournament, Frech, ranked No 100, won against Frenchwoman Chloe Paquet (6-1, 6-3) and Frenchwoman Elsa Jacquemot (6-2, 6-3).
