Belgian Greet Minnen won against Jodie Burrage 6-4, 6-3 to move into the quarter-finals of the Saint-Malo Open at the Parc des sports de Marville on Thursday.
Minnen, ranked No 173, will play American Emma Navarro, the No 8 seed, next.
The Belgian edged out American Claire Liu, the second seed (2-6, 6-2, 6-4) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round of the Saint-Malo tournament, Burrage, ranked No 110, edged out French qualifier Carole Monnet (2-6, 6-2, 7-5).
