Argentinian Nadia Podoroska advanced to the last 16 of the Catalonia Open by winning against Spaniard Marina Bassols Ribera 6-4, 6-2 on Wednesday night.
Podoroska, ranked No 104, will face the winner of the match between American Catherine McNally, the No 7 seed, and Spanish wildcard Irene Burillo Escorihuela next.
