Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia, the No 4 seed, advanced to the last 8 of the Porsche Grand Prix by defeating German wildcard Tatjana Maria 7-6 (5), 6-4 at the Porsche-Arena in Stuttgart on Thursday.
Garcia, ranked No 5, will face Russian Anastasia Potapova next.
Maria, ranked No 71, edged out Swiss qualifier Ylena In-Albon (6-2, 4-6, 7-6 (4)) in the previous round of the Stuttgart Open.
