Russian qualifier Aslan Karatsev reached the second round of the BMW Open by beating German wildcard Daniel Altmaier 4-6, 7-6 (2), 6-2 at the MTTC Iphitos complex in Munich on Thursday.
The match was subject to a lengthy rain delay on Wednesday.
Karatsev, ranked No 129, will face No 4 seed Botic Van De Zandschulp next.
