Australian Jason Kubler, the No 6 seed, advanced to the second round of the US Clay Court Championships by winning against Spanish wildcard Fernando Verdasco 7-6 (7), 6-0 at River Oaks Country Club in Houston on Monday.
Kubler, ranked No 71, will face Colombian Daniel Elahi Galan next.
