Top seed Djokovic races past Griekspoor to seal quarter-final berth

World No 1 Novak Djokovic raced past Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor 6-2, 6-3 to advance to the last eight of the Dubai Open at the Aviation Club Tennis Centre on Wednesday evening.
The top seed, who struggled through his opening match with Tomas Machac, hit 28 winners and made just six unforced errors as he wrapped up victory in one hour, 22 minutes. He’s now made at least the quarter-finals in each of his 13 visits to Dubai.
Djokovic will play the winner of the match between Russian qualifier Pavel Kotov and Pole Hubert Hurkacz, the No 5 seed, next.
Ahead of his victory, the 35-year-old Serb edged out Czech qualifier Machac (6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (1)).
Griekspoor, ranked No 39, beat Frenchman Constant Lestienne (6-4, 3-6, 6-2) in the previous round of the Dubai tournament.
