Canadian Rebecca Marino beat Mexican wildcard Fernanda Contreras Gomez 7-6 (4), 7-6 (4) to move into the second round of the Monterrey Open at the Estadio GNP Seguros on Monday.
Marino, ranked No 74, will play Chinese Lin Zhu, the No 5 seed, next.
