Dallas Open: Isner wins 501st career tiebreak to reach final
The American will play China’s Yibing Wu in the final
No 5 seed John Isner edged out No 6 seed J.J. Wolf 3-6, 7-5, 7-6 (4) to move into the final of the Dallas Open at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex on Saturday evening.
The third set tiebreak was Isner’s 501st of his career, the most by any player on the ATP Tour.
Isner, ranked No 39, will play the winner of the match between American Taylor Fritz, the top seed, and Chinese Yibing Wu next.
John Isner beat Chun-Hsin Tseng (7-6 (5), 7-6 (1)), German Daniel Altmaier (6-3, 7-6 (1)) and Ecuadorian Emilio Gomez (7-6 (8), 7-5) in the previous rounds of the Dallas tournament.
Wolf, ranked No 43, won against qualifier Brandon Holt (6-3, 6-3), Radu Albot (6-3, 7-6 (5)) and second seed Frances Tiafoe (4-6, 6-3, 6-4).
